INSIDE information
INSIDE For PC a dark yet dreamy puzzle-platformer that’s mysterious, emotional, and incredibly memorable. Throughout the game, I really wanted to know what was going on as I navigated through dangers disguised as innocence and the character’s actions and environment did all the speaking for him, since there’s hardly a word uttered.
For a puzzle game, INSIDE offered such a wonderfully desolate atmosphere, with darker palettes, soft music, chilling experiments and haunting locales that conveyed the young boy’s solitude as much as its unnerving circumstances.
Every new environment prompted me to move forward yet remain cautiously aware; I loved the sense of dread the gameplay itself inspired because, to escape the trials of the game, I had to think, and time my actions precisely to succeed in its brain-twisting puzzles.
Another way to induce tension would be by throwing something at you unexpectedly at which I enjoyed as I began outrunning or evading dangerous creatures and obstacles, because this time around, I found the overall storyline, and the themes that were slowly unveiled, more engaging since they prompted many questions than even a straightforward narrative might’ve imposed.
All-in-all, playing as INSIDE was pure brilliance; as a challenging exploration, riddle-making, terrifying and mind bending adventure the game, as an experience, was sublime with some impressive imagery to boot. If I was offered to play the game again in different colors, I wouldn’t bat an eye and press start for another few unsettling moments of fun again because INSIDE is for all puzzle gamers looking for an adventure.
